About the lightshow

The Salcedo Lightshow all started when we were getting bored of regular, static Christmas lights. After gaining inspiration from seeing other "singing" light shows, we decided that it would be something we would make in 2020. Planning since 2019, we finally finished creating the light show towards the end of Halloween (2020). The songs are broadcasted to passing vehicles over a low power FM transmitter (100.5). We decided to create the website to help inform others about our lightshow and how it works, along with our Social Media accounts.

We are using ws2811 lights (pixels), and a Kulp Controller running Falcon Player Pi. To program our lights, we use the program xLights. We use a standard FM transmitter to broadcast the music to passing vehicles. Creating, Programming, and Running a "singing" light show is a very complicated system, and it would be very difficult to explain through a website. There are many tutorials that explain how to create a light show, and everyone uses different devices and programs. Check out the expandable text below for a quick overview of some guides that might be helpful.

Forums - There are several forums centered around holiday lighting that are still used

Facebook groups - possibly the best way to learn, most of the groups are still very active. Note - there is a search function where you can search within a Facebook group!! USE IT!! Don't just join and post "hi I'm new what do I need to make a show" like the hundred other people before you - search for things and you'll find posts about it.
